OUR ASCENTS

Sergey Bogomolov and Jack Karyakin have a shared experience of combined ascents. In particular:  2007 – Nepal, 2009 – Kilimanjaro, 2012 – Elbrus, 2013 – Island Peak.

Jack is not a professional mountaineer, he gained his interest in mountaineering in 2007 after the trekking to Everest base camp with Sergey. For the last seven years he has repeatedly participated in the programs of Mt. trekking and has the successful ascents to the following summits: Kilimanjaro (5895 m, Tanzania, 2009), Elbrus (5 642 m, Russia, 2012), Island Peak (6 189 m, Nepal, 2013), San Francisco (6 016 m) and Ojos del Salado (6 893 m, Chile, 2014). Jack is a Vice President on Strategy and Development of the Gazovik Group of Companies, a founder of the Industrial Gas Equipment Research Centre and its scientific adviser. Since 2002 the Research Centre has published the most authoritative reference book — “Industrial gas equipment”.

During these years the reference book has ran through 6 editions, students of 48 Universities of the country use it while studying. The total circulation is more than 18 thousand copies. The 6th issue of the reference book, published in 2013, has a cover with the picture of the view of Everest from the summit of Kala Patthar mountain (5550 m), which Jack took in 2007 at the time of trekking to Everest base camp. One of auditoriums of Gazovik's Training Centre is named after Sergey Bogomolov.

Mountaineers call the last 900 meters from the fourth base camp to the peak “the death zone”. If you ascended to the top of the mountain and then perished on the descent — this result is unsuccessful. Our goal is to reach the summit of Everest and to descend alive.
